3rd out of 1773
20+2 NL Tourney, 1773 players, 3rd place.
Payout: 2,836 dollars and 80 damn cents.
FHWRDH sweated me through the first few levels before having to take off for band practice. TroubleCat kept an eye on me through the later stages, and we started a chatroom later on with my girlfriend Kori (who downloaded Party just so she could watch), April, and FWALG. Good times for sure.
For most of the final 20 players, I had a strong chip lead, and I was getting aggressive with it. Blind steals with nothing were the norm. The player to my right was horrible, but was getting the deck absolutely thrown at him. It was disgusting. I had to tiptoe when he raised my blinds, and it would always go to at least the turn before I could push him off the hand.
Which, I'd like to note, I usually could.
With 4 left I finally had to take a stand against him, and lost when A6 ran into 66. No improvement. I began a series of all-ins collecting 90k of blinds every time, and when 4th place went out, I felt a sigh of relief, but i was in bad shape. On the button I tried to steal with 29o (which caused quite a ruckus in the peanut gallery, BTW) and the SB called with AK.
Bam, gone. But I will not weep, as I just made the largest cash amount ever in my young poker career.
My credit card is getting paid off, I'm going to see Kori in Florida, and my bankroll's gonna get a slight boost.
I'm the happiest poker blogger in the world tonight. I... um...
...crap, I give up trying to speak any words about how these past few days have gone.
